Staten Island’s Flagship Brewing Company.
What’s better than summertime baseball and great beer? Not much.
The Staten Island Yankees, the short-season Single-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, and Flagship Brewing Company have teamed up to make a brand new beer, Pizza Rats Pilsner.
Named after the Staten Island Yanks alternate identity, Pizza Rats Pilsner is a traditional pilsner dry hopped with Citra hops, making it the perfect beverage for a summer night at a ballgame.
On Thursday, the Pizza Rats Pilsner brew was available for the first time in cans at Flagship Brewing Company located in the Tompkinsville neighborhood of Staten Island.
“This is the stuff you dream about when opening a craft brewery. Being able to make awesome beer in collaboration with your friends in the community is truly great,” Flagship Brewing Company President and Co-Founder James Sykes said in a press release.
Pizza Rats Pilsner is now available in cans at Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George throughout the season.
“We are excited to expand our partnership with Flagship Brewing Company,” Staten Island Yankees President and Operating Partner Will Smith said. “I thank Matt, Jay and Patrick for their continued partnership, brainstorming and collaboration. Our businesses are walking-distance apart, and I could not be more proud to co-brand and promote each other with this brew.”
