There’s something special about up-and-coming musical artists that has me pulling for them to succeed. For me, it’s their unyielding hunger, drive, and determination to climb that hill of stardom, no matter what, that makes me want to root for them.
One such performer is country singer/songwriter Hannah Ellis, who opened up for multi-platinum singer, performer, and songwriter Gavin DeGraw at Mayo Performance Arts Center (MPAC) in Morristown, New Jersey, Sunday night.
Accompanied by just an acoustic guitarist, the Campbellsville, Kentucky, native delivered a sweet, memorable performance, singing tunes from her latest five-track EP, including Never In Love and ILYSoWhat, a tune she wrote after telling her boyfriend she loved him for the first time.
Additionally, Ellis grooved the classic 1991 R&B hit song from BLACKstreet, No Diggity.
Afterward, the smooth-sounded country diva held a meet-and-greet in MPAC’s lobby, where she graciously signed photos and CDs for her fans, and snap photos with them as well.
Ellis is no stranger to notoriety, being named one of CMT’s Next Women of Country as well as one of Rolling Stone’s “Artist’s to Watch”. Plus, the Nashville, Tennesse, resident has competed on Season 8 of The Voice.
